2.2 million dollars of smuggled oil, the decision is made for the crew of "Queen Majeda"

The Durrës Court has changed the security measure against the captain and 3 other crew members of the "Queen Majeda" ship.

In September of last year, the court imposed the measure of "arrest in prison" for 4 of the 10 crew members, arrested by the police, but 6 months later the same judge, at the request of the prosecution, decided to change the security measure from "arrest in prison" in "obligation to stay in a certain place" and specifically in the ship, which is anchored at the quay of the means seized for smuggling goods in the port of Durrës.

As part of the operation coded "Ring", the ship's captain Zuhair Alkwafi, 54 years old, Muavid Ali Altabir, 25 years old, Amad Abushala, 43 years old, all three from Libya, and Badr Teezini, 25 years old from Syria, were arrested.

The prosecution asked to replace the security measure "Arrest in prison" with that of "compulsion to stay in a certain place", specifically in the territory where the ship Queen Majeda is anchored, in the port of Durrës.

The tanker coming from the port of Benghazi was intercepted by maritime anti-smuggling and border police.

6 months ago, the court of Durrës ordered "arrest in prison" for the captain of the ship Zuhair Alkwafi, the two assistants Muajid Altabir, Amad Abushala, as well as the Syrian discharge worker Badr Tezini.

They are accused of "Smuggling goods for which excise duty is paid", "Storage or deposit of contraband goods" and "Smuggling of the captain, pilot or crew", carried out in cooperation.

This measure was changed in mid-March, while investigations continue.

Built in 1994, the tanker "Queen Majeda" sailing under the flag of Cameroon was blocked on September 12 last year in Durrës.

We remind you that 2275 tons of contraband oil, worth about 2.2 million dollars, were seized from the tanker, arresting 4 people and proceeding to release 6 others.
