Written by SOT.COM.AL 1 Shkurt 2023

From this Wednesday, citizens who have an open case in the Court of Appeal must travel to Tirana to closely follow the court proceedings. The head of the Durrës Chamber of Advocates, Lorval Petani, said that in Durrës there are 2,900 files pending and they have gone to the capital. Petani gives a gloomy forecast, because giving a decision on a case can take up to 5 years.
Lawyers in Vlora have once again opposed the new judicial map. The head of the Chamber of Advocates in Vlora, Durim Bajramaj stated that a person needs about 7 years to complete a court hearing. In the court of Vlora there were about 7 thousand files which are expected to be judged.
Even the head of the Chamber of Advocates in Fier, Ermal Hamataj, emphasized the increased costs at the expense of the citizens.
Even in Gjirokastër, the sessions left halfway were transferred to the Court of Appeal in Tirana to be examined by the same judges. According to official information, the number of files that will be transferred to the Court of Appeal in Tirana is 600, collected from the Courts of Fact in Gjirokastër, Përmet and Sarandë.
In Korce, 900 cases that were filed in the Korce Appeal have been transferred to Tirana. The files of the administrative court have been transferred to Lushnja, while the cases of the court of first instance in Pogradec will continue to be judged by the court of first instance in Korça.
2123 files under consideration by the Shkodër Court of Appeal have been transferred to the Court of General Jurisdiction in Tirana.
"5 judges of the Appeal of Shkodra, 4 have been transferred to Tirana together with 5 employees of the administration, while 1 judge in command has returned to the Court of the Judicial District of Shkodra, together with 8 members of the administration"
Out of 2150 files transferred to the Appeal of Tirana, 1068 are civil, 760 criminal, 50 criminal administrative, 135 civil administrative and 111 with an initial trial in the Appeal.
