The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated in an interview for the BBC, before the meeting with the Serbian President, Aleksandar Vucic, on August 18 in Brussels, that he expects more from the European Union, which also performs the role of mediator in this process.

The head of the Kosovar government has stated for the BBC in Serbian that he believes that the EU can be even more active and clearer.

"We have the right to expect more from the EU, especially to show more clarity and determination regarding its positions, especially when it comes to events such as the recent barricades and incidents in the north of Kosovo. September 1 will be a normal day at the border points – either we will issue entry-exit documents, or both sides will cancel them,” he said.

Kurti said he hopes to discuss the license plate issue with Vu?i? as part of current topics.

Asked if this is his negotiation platform for the Brussels talks, Kurti said that he has already presented such a proposal to Vucic, in a meeting organized within the cooperation initiative of regional leaders Brdo-Brioni.

"I told him, know the documents of Kosovo and he told me that it is unacceptable because that would be the recognition of independence", said Kurti.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo has announced that he told the President of Serbia that this is not true.

"Although it would be good, I told him that it is not true - Slovakia, Greece, Romania do not recognize independence, but they recognize the documents of Kosovo", he said.

While the entry documents may be a minor obstacle, Kurti has no alternative to replace the license plates issued by Serbia for Kosovo's cities, the BBC reports.

"We will continue with the information campaign for changing license plates with many benefits - no value added tax, excise duty and customs. Replacement can begin immediately. The deadline for completing the process will not be September 1, but two months later," he said.
