Confindustria, dissatisfied with the merger of the Fuel Board, asks the government to create a Regulatory Entity, concerned by oligopolies and smuggling

Confindustria reacted a day after the government decided to dissolve the Transparency Board for hydrocarbon prices. Through an official statement, Konfindustria asked the government to establish the Fuel Regulatory Authority, claiming that the merger of BT does not improve prices, as the fuel market is controlled by oligopolies and unfair competition. "Konfindustria estimates that the decision is not expected to bring any reduction in fuel prices in the market, on the contrary, it may worsen further." The reason for the above conclusion is the lack of free competition in the fuel market as a result of the presence of oligopolies and cartel-type agreements. Confindustria repeats the request for the creation of the Fuel Regulatory Body according to similar successful models in the Region", it is written at the beginning of the statement. Not only that, but Konindustria reasons that this entity would influence to reduce fuel prices in Albania, which are the highest in the region and Europe, which are also affected by oil smuggling. "Albania has the highest comparative fuel prices on the continent and beyond. The mass smuggling of fuel worth up to $300 million/year is quite problematic, accompanied by frequent violations of the embargo with countries such as Russia, Iran, Libya, etc., concludes Confindustria's position.
