The criminality coefficient for registered criminal proceedings per 100,000 inhabitants in 2022 is 920.

From the data published by the General Prosecutor's Office, the lowest percentage of the crime coefficient in 2022 is in Berat district, while the highest percentage is in Gjirokastër district.

Regarding the crime coefficients per 100,000 inhabitants according to the districts, the statistical data are as follows:

In the district of Berat, the crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants in 2022 is 591; where it is considered the lowest, while in Gjirokastër district the crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants is 1386, thus gaining the status as the district with the highest criminality.

Although they are considered as the two areas where shocking crimes have occurred, Elbasan and Shkodra districts, according to the General Prosecutor's Office, have a not very high crime rate. Specifically, in Elbasan county, the crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants is 683; While in the Shkodër region, the crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants is 946. In Tirana, the crime rate per 100,000 inhabitants is 1006.

The ratio of criminal offenses against public order and security to the total number of proceedings registered in the prosecutor's office for 2022 is 29.45%, so the most common crimes are in this category of criminal offences. While property theft in the total number of proceedings registered in the prosecutor's office for 2022, is 26.16%.
