Toxicologist Andrin Tahiri said in an interview for "Good morning Albanians" that if tattoos are not done in hygienic conditions, serious diseases are at risk. Among them he mentioned HIV Aids and hepatitis.

Tahiri also emphasized that tattoos should not be done on moles, while he pointed out that those who want to cover the wounds from operations should wait at least 3 years to get a tattoo on the mark.

Tattoo artist Olsi Sejdi, on the other hand, said that in Albania tattoos are mainly treated as aesthetics and no sanitary checks are made to guarantee the safety of the process.
