After more than eight hours, the parliamentary debate on the situation in the north of Kosovo has ended. The opposition has criticized the government for recent developments in the four northern municipalities.

They debated the attacks by Serbian protesters, the sanctions from the United States of America and the extraordinary elections in North Mitrovica, Leposaviq, Zubin.

For six days, Kosovo Serbs have been protesting in front of municipal facilities in these municipalities. They oppose the mayors of the municipalities elected in the April 23 elections and the presence of Kosovo police near these facilities.

On Monday, the protesters, some of them wearing masks, used violence against members of KFOR, Kosovo Police and journalists. They threw various things at the peacekeepers, until they damaged media vehicles.

As a result of the violent protests, 30 KFOR soldiers were injured. The United States has criticized Kosovo for escalating tensions with Serbia, while also canceling the country's participation in a NATO military exercise "Defender 23", after the government refused to withdraw mayors and police forces from municipal buildings. .
