Tensions in the north of Kosovo, Meloni reacts

The Prime Minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni, has reacted to the attacks of Serbian protesters against KFOR in the North of Kosovo.

Three Italian KFOR soldiers are in serious condition after the riots in Zveçan.

Melon said that the attacks on KFOR will not be tolerated anymore, as he told about the injuries of KFOR soldiers in Kosovo.

But she also asked the Government of Kosovo not to take unilateral actions.

"On my own behalf and on behalf of the Government, I express my most sincere feelings of closeness to the Italian soldiers injured during the riots in Kosovo. I also express my strongest condemnation for the attack that was made against the KFOR mission, which included soldiers from other nations. What is happening is absolutely unacceptable and irresponsible," she said.

"We will not tolerate further attacks on KFOR. It is essential that further unilateral actions by the Kosovar authorities are avoided and that all parties involved immediately take a step back, contributing to the easing of tensions. The commitment of the Italian government to peace and stability in the Western Balkans is maximum and we will continue to work with our allies. I confirm my closeness to the Italian army and the strong gratitude of the government for the exceptional professionalism and the commendable spirit of service they show in all circumstances", declared the Prime Minister of Italy.
