Scary/ The ship full of passengers is engulfed in flames, there are dead

Ten people have died and 230 others have been rescued after a fire broke out on a passenger ship off the coast of Basilan province in the Philippines.

Nine other people were injured as a result of the fire. The ship had a capacity of 430 passengers.

The Philippines, an archipelago of more than 7,600 islands and islets, has low maritime safety, with ships often carrying too many passengers and many shipping lines using older ships.

Marine incidents are frequent in the country.

In May 2022, at least seven people died when a fire broke out on a passenger ship with 134 people on board.
