The Toronto police have clarified that the attack happened at 3:35 in the afternoon in the area of ??Danforth Avenue and Jones Avenue, while it is suspected that the author happened to meet Finlay and then attacked him.
The moment he sees that the journalist is lying on the ground with multiple wounds, the perpetrator leaves the scene. Authorities said they are still working to identify the perpetrator, who has been described as a man in his 20s with a thin, tall build.
Finlay worked with the CBC as a radio producer and editor for 31 years before retiring in 2010.
The event has prompted reactions from colleagues and friends of the journalist.
