Finland takes the unexpected decision against Russia
Written by SOT.COM.AL 24 Shtator 2022
Finland said it would "significantly limit" the entry of Russian citizens into the country after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced partial military mobilization for the war in Ukraine.
The Finnish government said in a statement on September 23 that it has decided to limit the number of Russian citizens who will be allowed to enter the country.
This decision was said to be necessary, as the influx of Russians "has caused serious damage to Finland's international position".
In the statement of the Finnish Government, no details were given about the possible measures that will be taken to limit border crossings or when this decision will come into force.
Reuters quoted a Finnish border guard as saying that the number of Russians trying to enter the country appeared to have doubled on September 23, compared to the day before when 7,000 people entered Finland from Russia.
Finland is one of the few key points for Russians to enter Europe, as many countries have closed land and air borders with Russia due to Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine.
