Historic moment, King Charles addresses the French parliament

Shortly after the death of Queen Elizabeth, her successor King Charles 3 has held this Thursday a historic speech on the floor of the upper house of parliament in France, thus becoming the first monarch to address French lawmakers.

He began his speech in French by expressing how honored he felt to be invited into what he called the sacred room.

Charles spoke of the partnership established between the United Kingdom and France, stating that they will always be good allies and friends.

"For as long as I am king, I pledge to do everything I can to strengthen the vital relationship between the United Kingdom and France."

King Charles 3 spoke on many important world issues. The war in Ukraine was normally one of the challenges that stopped.

"Together we are unwavering in our resolve that Ukraine will triumph and that freedom will prevail. A common resolve and alliance is very important right now in the context of the war in Ukraine."

The British monarch also touched on climate change, saying that the challenge facing our planet is big and serious and emphasizing how encouraging it has been to see the actions that have been taken by governments, people and increasingly by the sector private.
