European Union finance ministers on Tuesday added Anguilla, the Bahamas and the Turks and Caicos Islands to the list of EU tax havens, expanding the list to 12 countries, Reuters reports.
The Turks and Caicos Islands, next to the Bahamas and Cuba, are on the list for the first time. The Bahamas was listed once in 2018 and then removed, and Anguilla in 2020.
"We all benefit from the fair taxation of businesses. This is why the EU and international partners share a common interest in fighting tax base erosion and profit shifting", said the Czech Minister of Finance, Zbynek Stanjura, whose country holds the EU presidency.
"I believe that all 12 countries on the list will fulfill their commitments and carry out the necessary tax reforms as soon as possible, so that they will be removed from this list when we review it after 6 months", he added.
