The President of Montenegro reveals Russia's scary plan for the Balkans: Here's what Serbia is trying to do

The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, stated that the Russian aggression against Ukraine has strong consequences in the Western Balkans.

Djukanovic said that since 2014, Russia has changed its course for the perspective of the Western Balkans and is trying to influence the countries of the region to choose another future, instead of the European one, writes Vijesti.

"None of us have any illusions that Russia will give up its goals, on the contrary, it will increase its destruction and expand its hybrid warfare repertoire," said Djukanovic, who was a guest of the Institute for Peace in a panel on security in Europe.

According to him, the situation in the Balkans today is worse than six or seven years ago, where he emphasized that Serbia is trying to rule some countries in the region.

"In the Western Balkans there is a copy of what Russia wants to do in its region. In the Balkans, we now have an attempt to make the Serbian world a kind of extension of the Russian world in the Russian region, and how they try to restore the influence that the Soviet Union had, Serbia is doing the same, they don't want to rule their countries, they want to rule the nations. We see this in the region where Serbia is trying to rule Montenegro, trying to rule Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Kosovo and North Macedonia. And I would say that unfortunately, this policy has not yet received an adequate response from our Western partners", he underlined.
