Written by SOT.COM.AL 30 Maj 2023
The MEP and chairman of the European Green Party, Thomas Waitz, said that the recent escalations in the north are "the result of years of ethno-nationalist politics of Aleksandar Vu?i? and divisive rhetoric".
He says that "the EU is already discussing a freeze on membership talks with Serbia".
The Austrian condemned the attacks on KFOR soldiers and journalists, while he said that the European People's Party (EPP) should urgently end its cooperation with Vucic.
"These escalations are the result of Aleksandar Vu?i?'s years of ethno-nationalist politics and divisive rhetoric. Even journalists and KFOR soldiers have become targets of this readiness for violence. I condemn the attacks in the strongest terms. The European People's Party (EPP) must urgently end cooperation with Aleksandar Vu?i?, against whom massive protests are currently taking place in Serbia", says a statement sent to the media.
Waitz says that "we urgently need a political solution to the crisis in the north" and that both sides return to the dialogue table.
