Today, allies, this is how Ilir Meta arrested Sali Berisha in 2000 after the revolts that started for the local elections, the "coup d'état" in Tropoja produced 1 victim and 30 injured

Today, allies, this is how Ilir Meta arrested Sali Berisha in 2000 after the

In 32 years, Albanian politics has known strange and very simple transitions from one political front to another. Unfortunately, the lack of political consequence from leaders and former leaders of the state or political forces in the country has already been accepted as a characteristic feature not only of the Albanian political society, but also of the citizens. Despite the fact that Albanian politicians are forcefully proclaimed as leaders who never betray the trust and promise of citizens to bring justice, order, equality and the deserved punishment of opponents to the end, for years Albanian opinion has been convinced that among political forces, no there is a literal war of ideas, convictions, principles, visions, hope, salvation, on the contrary, they act as organizations that often find agreement on many issues that have subsequently resulted in great damage to the state and society. As much as the SP, DP, LSI, PDIU and other parties have pledged before every election campaigner for a pure and uncompromising moral and political war, the complete opposite of what they said, they have realized. Strangely, the question arises: Why in a society that has gone through so many invasions, oppressive anti-democratic regimes, dictatorship and that should have created a greater political and social moral vigilance, is it so difficult to realize the turning point, the separation from the roads political failures and the creation of new forward-looking paths and to allow treacherous betrayals, failure to keep promises, be performed very easily without any obstacles? A simple answer that is always presented as the first alternative is because for centuries, Albanians have not created a sound political consciousness to prevent, restrain, resist, fight and assimilate the authoritarian, arrogant, ruthless political spirit creating any political system new forms of degradation, oppression, polarization, hatred, persecution, isolation, cultural and political backwardness. For the Albanians, unfortunately it is said that it is very easy to scare them and divide them. The arbitrariness of the political classes of every regime in Albania has caused our society to suffer a psychological "lobotomy", so much so that it easily "welcomes" great tragedies, even at the cost of many lives. Such social traumatization, strongly connected and with a sadistic passion that dominates society, has caused a shocking loss of the historical memory of Albanians. Based on these severe deformations of politics, the state and society, Albanians have produced, voted for political forces and leaders, whose lives have been extended beyond the political moral normality and coherence. More than ever, the call for the need to change the political class in Albania has increased, which not only has not invested in the improvement of the state, the development and emancipation of society, but on the contrary, is increasingly considered a dangerous and harmful both for the future, but also for our present. The political class today in Albania is led by Edi Rama, Ilir Meta and Sali Berisha. All three have been sworn enemies, all three have accused him, attacked and anathema each other so wildly crossing the border of political rivalry, but so many have publicly and silently favored each other. Today we will return to Meta and Berisha, who have again embraced as determined allies to save Albania from a wild "plague" such as Rilindja led by Rama. They once marked another difficult period for the stability and political development of Albania in the early 2000s, so much so that the wrong impression was created that in the arena of Albanian politics there could be no place for both. who are again embraced as determined allies to save Albania from a wild "plague" such as the Renaissance led by Rama. Berisha: Meta, a terrorist who celebrates Independence with the blood of Tropojana teenagers

At the end of 2000, Ilir Meta was at the peak of his political power after he was elected with the blessing of the leader of the SP, Fatos Nano, as prime minister of Albania. The Socialists had triumphed in the local elections of October 1 and 15, 2000, strengthening their power in the country even more. The Democrats suffered another heavy "KO" after falling from power in 1997. The blue headquarters lost 39 municipalities compared to the local elections of 1996, winning only 13 of 65 municipalities. DP also suffered a deep loss in the voting for mayors, where it won 79 out of 309 municipalities, losing 181 municipalities. Democrats inspired and led by Berisha boycotted most of the city and municipal elections that had run off on October 1, 2000. After failing to retake power by force on September 14, 1998, shunned and hated by society for the economic disaster of pyramid firms in 1997, which was immediately followed by the collapse of the state and security, Berisha was making every effort to regain the trust of Albanian citizens, even with violent methods. Characterized as a conflicted politician who never gives up, Berisha was no less sparing of Ilir Meta, whom he considered the head of criminal and mafia activities in the country, abuse of power, leadership with fascist methods, etc. In November 2000, he called Meta a terrorist who was celebrating the unfair victory in the elections to the detriment of Tropoja's democrats, stealing a full 500,000 votes. "I condemn as the main author of this massacre the terrorist Prime Minister Ilir Meta who violated the vote of half a million Albanians, celebrates flag day with the blood of teenagers from Tropoja", said Berisha at that time. In order to escalate the polarization of society and send it to the boiling point of political hatred, on November 28, 2000, he ordered the organization of a "rally" of Tropoja democrats, which was accompanied by chaos, fear, violence and arrests.

The terrible riot on November 28, 2000 in Tropoja, 1 killed and 30 injured

After the October 2000 elections and the next electoral failure, Berisha reactivated the wild accusations against the socialists that they had stolen and manipulated the local elections. What he announced as a democrats' rally in Tropoja, turned into a fierce armed clash between the demonstrators and the police. On the eve of the 88th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of Albania, protesters from Tropoja and from other areas surrounded the Court and Commissariat of Tropoja as a sign of dissatisfaction with the theft of local elections. Local and political hatred between the left and the right flared up again, despite the killings and loss of many innocent lives since 1997. The Meta-led government sent a contingent of RENEA special forces to contain the protesters in Tropoja. But, many of them were armed and opened fire on the special police unit, which did not choose confrontation and escalation of violence by withdrawing from the positions. Afterwards, the demonstrators went to the city police station, where they demanded the release of the arrested democratic militants. Fear, lack of psychological preparation and the possibility of the conflict turning into a chaotic armed battle, made the operatives release the detainees in question. But, unfortunately, the anxiety, chaos and fear could not be extinguished as the protesters demanded that the police leave the Tropoja police station. The operatives and the chain of command considered this as desertion and dereliction of duty. An exchange of fire started between the parties, where there was 1 victim, Syl Lushaj, and 30 wounded. Such a situation set Prime Minister Ilir Meta in motion. which did not choose the confrontation and the escalation of violence by withdrawing from the positions. Meta forced Berisha to go to the police, "forgave" him after 3 hours

Meta blamed the leader of the opposition at the time, Sali Berisha, for carrying out the coup plan. After the deterioration of the order and security situation in Tropoja, he ordered Berisha to be escorted to the police. This event has been forgotten for years, but it can hardly be denied that the journalists and protagonists of the time, from the police structures to the PD, could have completely erased from memory such a dramatic moment. Numerous police and RENEA forces surrounded the PD headquarters and kept the militants and the democratic leadership under pressure. The order was for Sali Berisha to be sent to the Police Directorate of Tirana under any circumstances. The director of the State Police, Bilbil Mema, deputy director Niko Brahimi were involved in this operation, which was a test of Ilir Meta's political power over Sali Berisha; the prefect of Tirana Taulant Dedja and the director of the Tirana Police, Veli Myftari. The creator of this scene was Prime Minister Ilir Meta. With numerous masked and armed police forces, the blue headquarters was kept under siege for hours. Berisha was asked by Myftari to get out of his vehicle, but he refused. Then, the operatives neutralized the head of the bodyguards and his group. For 33 minutes, Berisha resisted, while then an officer took the role of the driver and sent Berisha to the Police Directorate of Tirana, where he was held for 3 hours. The Democrats were kept in suspense and powerless to make a move with their leader in the hands of the police and state, the opposing party. The operation took place at midnight on November 29, a few hours after the riots in Tropoja. In the Tirana Police, Berisha openly attacked the police chiefs and Prime Minister Meta himself for forcibly abducting him in violation of human rights. After 3 hours, he was released, while the "cleaning of accounts" did not end there.

Attacking PD militants, Azgan Haklaj was tortured and kept in prison for 7 months

After Berisha was "pardoned" and spared by the socialists, their revenge fell on the militants and his supporters. 2 months after the bloodshed in Tropoja, the head of the PD branch of Bajram Curri, the chairman of the Municipal Council of this city, and the vice-chairman of the Kuka District Council, Azgan Haklaj was arrested at 23:30 in his apartment in Tropoja in the evening on January 21, 2001. He was accused by the majority as one of the organizers of the "uprising" of November 28, 2000. Haklaj was tried with 14 other people. He risked being sentenced to 15 years in prison for the criminal offense "Violent offenses against state property". Haklaj was held for 7 months in a row in prison 313. The Democrats protested repeatedly for his arrest, and even accused Meta, the Socialists and the police that the head of the PD branch in Tropoje was tortured. Although in prison, Haklaj managed to be elected deputy in Tropoja in the parliamentary elections of June 24, 2001, which were again won by the socialists, but which were considered by the PD as an "electoral massacre". On July 23, 2001, Haklaj was dismissed in the Court of Tirana and acquitted. Many years later, now an open opponent of Berisha, Haklaj confessed on the show "Spotlight" on "Vizion Plus" a few weeks ago that during the detention at 313, they pulled out his nails and burned his body with cigarettes. Today, Meta and Berisha do not want to remember November 28, 2000, nor the hysterical accusations of the following years against each other, giving way to the impression of an old "friendship" and "alliance" that has not faded into anything. but which were considered by DP as "electoral massacre".
