The number of births in Albania is falling, here are how many babies were

The number of baby births has dropped significantly.

From year to year, the birth rate is showing low levels, and according to INSAT data, in the third quarter of 2023, births fell by nearly 7%.

Among the counties, Gjirokastra has the lowest number of babies with 115 in three months.

There are several factors, from demographic movements, the insecurity of young couples to the strengthening of the role of women and girls in society.

But births are decreasing not only in small towns, but also in areas with a large population.

In Elbasan, almost every year there are about 100 fewer babies.

In the third quarter of 2023, only Tirana recorded an increase in the number of births, while eleven other counties recorded a decrease.
