The Chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, yesterday accused the government of a corrupt affair in the electricity sector. During a press conference from PL headquarters, Meta says a tender has been opened for the purchase of electricity for a period of 3-5 years. According to Meta, abuse is committed because in the tender documents, the fixed purchase price is 270 euros per megawatt, while on the stock market it is 147 euros per megawatt. Also, he raises the question of what will happen in the period when Albania will have flow and will be able to produce energy. "The most recent feat that Renaissance is preparing through KESH is the affair for the opening of the tender for the purchase of energy for 3-5 years. This affair plans a theft in one of the sectors most abused by Rilindja, that of electricity. Albania has always produced the energy it needs for Albanian consumers. In 2021, it produced 5 teramegawatts out of the 4.5 that the country needs. We currently pay 94,000 euros per day for the ships of Vlora that were supposed to produce 100 megawatts. In the tender documents, the fixed purchase price is 270 euros per megawatt, while in the stock market it is 147 euros per megawatt. The differences are colossal. It is clear that Rilindash's greed to close the next corrupt tender does not wait. It is known that KESH has sold energy at much lower prices than on the stock exchange. With this corrupt tender that will supposedly buy energy, the question arises, what will happen in times of supply? I understand that KESH will sell for 50 euros a megawatt and from this tender will buy it for 270 euros a megawatt", he declared. At the end, Meta calls on the citizens to overthrow the power of Edi Rama in the May 14 elections through voting. "Albania easily fulfills its needs and can continuously export energy. Corruption has prevented the use of all these resources. May 14 is a very important day where the power of union and the vote of punishment means Rilindja means enough for the corruption that is harming every honest citizen", underlined Meta.
