What is happening in the foreign exchange market with the continuous strengthening of the Lek against foreign currencies and especially against the Euro is completely unprecedented. Our national currency gained points again today against the European one.
According to the data of the Bank of Albania, published a little while ago, 1 euro was exchanged today with an average of 106.39 lek like NEVER before. The Euro is losing points day by day against the Lek, a cycle which has accelerated especially during the days after the local elections.
Meanwhile, the American Dollar is also losing points against the Lek, which today was exchanged at 99.15 Lek.
In the absence of great speculation in the market, it seems that the situation has been created due to the large amount of dirty money that is circulating in Albania, which has found the suitable ground to be cleaned.
