How old are you today? The icon of the Albanian Theater has kept everyone glued to the screen, Mehdi Malkaj celebrates his birthday

Mehdi Malkaj was born on March 20, 1952 in the city of Memaliaj and this year he celebrated his 71st birthday.

Malkaj has been one of the most persistent actors in the protests against the demolition of the National Theater and he was the one who touched all Albanians with tears in their eyes when TK was thrown to the ground.

His acting stands out for the use of elements of buffoonery and burlesque, as well as for keeping a realistic line, in which he gains the advantage of behavior and suitability to the type of character he interprets.

He comes from a family that had a connection with art, his father who sang very well, his uncle who played on stage as an actor and played the drums (always as an amateur), as well as his older brother who did the same. From them comes Mehdi, who became a beloved and well-known actor in the comedy genre from a driver. When he was young, he had the gift of humor, and for this reason, it is important to be educated in this direction. So in 1980, at the age of 28, he competed in the Academy of Arts in front of a jury with big names such as: Gëzim Kame, Timo Flloko, Margarita Xhepa, Violeta Manushi, Luftar Pajo, Anastas Kristofori, Minella Barova, Birçe Hasko, Lazër Filipi, etc. which declare him the winner. After graduating in 1983, he was assigned to the Soldier's Show with an activity in this show for 10 years.

Then it goes to the Tirana Variety Theater. From where the actor and director Koco Devole will have a great impact on his career. It is precisely Kocoja who brings a big role to that of Xha Braho in the telecomedy "The Last Hunt" at the end of 1992. On January 1, 1993, suddenly everyone is talking about this character who carried the psychology of a people as a burden on his back, but the actor who he played it so well that the master was not recognized. From that moment on, everyone knows him as "Uncle Braho" and few greet him by name.
In the theater we will find him in several roles, such as the role of Father in the drama "Father" by Ruzhdi Pulaha, in the role of Shëval in the comedy "Dinner of Fools" by Weber, in the role of Shmalci in the drama "Franku i V" of Fridrih Dyrrenmat; "On the second floor is heaven"; "The nation's honor"; "Rags"; "Wrong dinner" etc

Në kinematografi dhe telekomedi gjithashtu ai ka interpretuar në shumë role. Roli i tij i parë do të jetë ai i Milo budallait në filmin “Përrallë nga e kaluara” në vitin 1987. Më tej do të vazhdonin edhe role të tjera në shumë filma si roli i pijanecit në filmin “Jeta në duart e tjetrit” në vitin 1990, roli i babait të Lolos në filmin “Shpella e piratëve në vitin 1991 etj Pa harruar ato ne telekomedite dhe skecet ku padyshim me I sukseshmi mbetet Xha Braho.

Ne vitin 2007 marre pjesë në festivalin e Gjilanit duke u shpallur aktori më i mirë i ketij festivalit.
