Academics and researchers at the scientific conference dedicated to Jakov Xoxa appreciated the writer's contribution. The Academy of Sciences organized the conference in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the writer and researcher Jakov Xoxa, following the decision of its assembly, which singled out this figure of Albanian letters as the personality of the year. The chairman of ASH academic Skënder Gjinushi said that the work and activity of Jakov Xoxa are basic in the history of Albanian literature of the second half of the century. XX. "His triptych, with the novels Dead River, White Yuga and Salt Flower, has become part of the spiritual constitution of dozens of generations in Albania and Kosovo, even for readers in foreign languages. The mark left by this work on the artistic and worldview formation of the Albanian youth is indelible. Jakov Xoxa's prose: novels and novellas, his stories and journalistic writings are an original heritage of great value, which belong and honor not only the author's name, but the very fate of Albanian literature in the post-war decades", said Gjinushi. Further, Academician Gjinushi said that by describing the novel "Dead River" as one of the best novels of Albanian literature to date, Acad. Rexhep Qosja said that Jakov Xoxa is the first Albanian writer who tries to reveal man and reality in their entirety. "The work of Jakov Xoxa has a historical significance for the role it had as a unique unifier of the Albanian reader wherever he was", said Gjinushi. The president of ASH acad. Skender Gjinushi gave the highest recognition award, the Honor of the Academy, to Jakov Xoxa. The award was presented to Agron Xoxa's son. During the development of the international scientific conference, the documentary "Jakov Xoxa - 100 years" was shown, dedicated to the life and work of the writer Jakov Xoxa, produced by RTSH, directed by Ylli Pepo. Jakov Xoxa was born in Fier on April 15, 1923 and died in Budapest on April 28, 1979.
