Mikel Temo: The Ministry of Culture does not have a support program, projects remain on paper and contemporary artists have no place to exhibit

Mikel Temo: The Ministry of Culture does not have a support program,

Painter Mikel Temo says that for the artistic activity in the country there are few exhibition spaces for artists. According to him, the few private galleries that are have their selection for artists. In the interview for the newspaper "SOT", the well-known painter Mikel Temo criticizes the Ministry of Culture and the National Gallery of Arts. According to him, the ministry does not have a cultural support program for artists, where projects remain on paper as there is no money. Mikel Temo says that GKA also changed the format and expelled some of the artists. The painter says that the ministry is continuing with projects that are cultural activities and not necessarily for painting and sculpture, but according to him has a greater responsibility than artists individually for their creativity. Painter Mikel Temo was recently praised for his work in painting and the "Ismail Lulani" award, which according to him is the only award for visual artists. Mikel Temo graduated in Monument Painting and Drawing at the Academy of Arts in Tirana, Albania in 1986, after training in an intensive program in traditional art he completed a doctorate in Arts in 1997. From 1986-1998 Mikel Temo shared his knowledge his and his love of art with students as teachers in the School of Arts of Tirana. After exploring trips to art museums in Italy and France his work became more abstract with traces of reality. after training in an intensive program in traditional art he completed a doctorate in Arts in 1997. -In Tirana took place a few days ago the fourth edition of "VIZart Tirana International Watercolor Festival", which brought together Albanian and foreign artists. How important are these activities for you in the artistic life in the country?

These activities at the moment are the ones that keep alive the artistic spirit of the artists, because they want to be exposed with their works. The more cases there are to be exhibited, the more lively the communication remains, as a result, the artistic activity.

-Artists say that there are few activities, how do you as a painter see this?

The activities are few and at the moment the "VIZart Tirana International Watercolor Festival Tirana" is the only activity attended by artists from different parts of the globe. But even if it was not international, but local, it still remains the only activity that is today in our country. In continuation of "VIZart Tirana International Watercolor Festival Tirana" was opened the exhibition of the International Contemporary Festival of Tirana organized by "VIZart", focused on young artists.

- In the fourth edition of "VIZart Tirana International Watercolor Festival" you were awarded the "Ismail Lulani" prize. How important is this award for artists?

A do ndryshojë formati?

Ajo është individuale se çfarë bëj unë me punën time.

-Me studentët si do vijojë aktiviteti ?

With the closing of studies this school year, each study program exposes the achievement of the school year, where students expose, receive grades and meanwhile take a look at all the work done during the school year. It is understood that these have been difficult years with Covid-19 and the learning process has had its own problems for the reasons from the pandemic. The end-of-year exhibitions of the university show the progress of all the programs.
