The National Theater of Opera and Ballet and the Cairo Opera House cooperate for the realization of joint performances and the exchange of artists.

The Egyptian Culture Week started with a concert on the stage of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet in Tirana. Musicians from the Cairo Opera Orchestra and the TKOB Orchestra came together last night in a gala concert, which presented to the public some famous Egyptian and Albanian symphonic, lyrical and classical works. The concert was with the participation of the famous Egyptian soprano Amira Selim under the direction of Maestro Nayer Nagui. A few hours before the concert, the Minister of Culture Elva Margariti received the Minister of Culture of Egypt, Mrs. Nevien El Kilany, who is in Tirana for the opening of the Egyptian Culture Week. Yesterday, the memorandum of cooperation between TKOB and the Cairo Opera House was signed. The memorandum of cooperation signed between the Opera of Egypt and the Albanian Opera is to be an important step in joint efforts to strengthen cooperation in raising artistic capacities, especially of young people. "The fruit of the cooperation between the two countries is a series of cultural activities, within the framework of the Egyptian Cultural Week, there is also a gala concert with the participation of the Egyptian soprano Amira Selim", said Mrs. Nevien El Kilany. Minister Margariti in TKOB made a presentation of the Egyptian Week. Margariti spoke about "Description de l'Egypte", an exhibition of several original, monumental books, written by a multitude of researchers, in the tradition of scientific research trips of the 18th century and published by order of Napoleon Bonaparte. This collection belongs to the exceptional and previously unexhibited treasury of the National Library. Not to be missed, according to her, is the concert with Egyptian folk music, in "Skënderbej" Square. "Egypt of exceptional culture comes with a beautiful calendar, starting with a concert of the Cairo Opera Orchestra and the Theater of Opera and Ballet, as a crowning of the memorandum of cooperation between our two opera houses, to continue with a rare exhibition, organized in these premises by the National Library, which reveals Egypt to us through images", said Margariti.    

Cooperation between institutions

The memorandum of cooperation with our Opera and Ballet Theater and the National Cultural Center "Cairo Opera House", of the Arab Republic of Egypt, was signed by Mr. Haytham Alhaj, chairman of the board of the General Egyptian Book Organization and Mrs. Abigeila Voshtina, general director of the National Theater of Opera, Ballet and Popular Ensemble. According to the Minister of Culture Elva Margariti, this memorandum aims at the mutual recognition of the cultures of both our countries and the encouragement of joint initiatives; creating conditions for the realization of joint performances and the exchange of artists. Likewise, according to Margariti, the participation in festivals and activities that take place in our two countries; promotion of original works; joint projects that will improve theater management, curatorial expertise, marketing strategies, communication, media relations, education and audience, etc. "I believe that this is just the beginning of a new collaboration, which will expand into other fields, not only in opera and ballet, but also in visual arts, theater, etc.," said Margariti. The Egyptian Culture Week will continue with activities until September 25.
