Do you suspect that your neighbor is "stealing" your internet? How to understand and avoid it without the help of experts

Written by SOT.COM.AL 31 Janar 2023

If the internet is still slow and you need to hurry, it's time to see if something else is going on.
Is it not your internet's fault, but someone "stealing" your Wi-Fi?
Even if your Wi-Fi has a password, it's easy for someone to "steal" it, especially if the password is the one set by your router.
With a few simple steps, you can make sure that no one can take advantage of your Wifi.
Here we should point out that different routers have different login styles, so you need to find the one that corresponds to your device. Type the IP address of the router in the address bar of the browser (eg 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254. If the above does not work, you can try routerlogin.com and you will be redirected to the admin panel your router).
Enter the administrator username and password.
When you enter the admin panel, look for menu options like "Connected devices" or "Attached devices". If you find this menu, you will be able to see the MAC address, IP address and device name of all devices connected to your network.
If you see the name of an additional user or device, then this is the attacker using your Wi-Fi without your permission.
Change your password immediately and set it to something stronger.
You can disable the SSID broadcast. For a more effective solution, you can set a filter based on the MAC address of the devices.
