Experts come out with the latest announcement: Up to four cups of coffee a day are not harmful

New research shows that four cups of coffee a day can help people trying to lose weight. The findings, published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, include a 24-week study that examined the effects of coffee consumption in 126 overweight men and women in Singapore. Initially, the researchers wanted to find out if coffee helped reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by limiting the risk of developing insulin resistance, which can lead to high blood sugar spikes and, therefore, diabetes.
It turned out that they found no evidence that coffee has such a protective effect, but they did find another, unexpected effect: People who drank four cups of coffee a day for six months experienced a nearly 4 percent reduction in total body fat. , reports KP.
The scientists believe that the observed fat loss was not due to lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise, but from coffee, as a result of a "metabolic response" in which caffeine boosted the metabolic process of people who drank coffee.
"The end result of this process is the burning of more calories and a noticeable decrease in body fat levels," said study author Harvard University School of Public Health, Dr. Derrick Johnston Alpert.
So, can drinking four cups of coffee a day over a long period of time cause any danger? The expert believes not, based on previous research that has shown that this level of coffee consumption is within current normal limits.
Other scientists, however, don't seem so sure about the safety of drinking these levels of coffee every day, citing limitations associated with this study as well, such as the fact that the experiment only lasted six months and that all participants came from various of East Asia.
For this reason, all experts agree that more research and additional evidence with more comprehensive assessments of body composition are needed to confirm the findings of the current research and, in turn, to be able to state now with confidence that coffee can reduce body fat.
