MFi stands for Made for iPod, Made for iPhone and Made for iPad. Only brands that pass Apple's rigorous hardware and facility testing can place the MFi logo on their products. So be sure to look out for the MFi logo on charging accessories.

For example, every Lightning cable adapter has a small authentication chip that tells the iPhone it's MFi certified. Otherwise, the iPhone displays a window when it detects a cable that is not MFi certified.
