Lack of middle class - communist strategy of maintaining power!

Lack of middle class - communist strategy of maintaining power!

It has been almost thirty years waiting for the middle class in this country to start becoming completely absent, completely missing for half a century of the communist regime, which would serve as an essential indicator of the reform of the physiognomy of society. towards an emancipated western type that we aim to achieve. The term and definition of the middle class in a given society has changed over the decades, but always, whenever and by anyone who has studied this part of human society, has emphasized that the "middle class" is the backbone of civil society and of society at large. As such it has been in the spotlight of scholars since the beginning of its emergence in the conditions of the birth of capitalism. By definition, the middle class is that part of society which lies between the working class (which does not own the means of production) and the rich class at the top of the economic hierarchy of a society at a certain level of development. So from an economic point of view this class does not work only "for a living", but provides such income that it can buy consumer goods, have a property of its own, can educate children, take vacations with qualitative and as such is what defines the lifestyle of a civil society. This group also includes persons who work for themselves by employing no more than one or two others (even family members), or those educated professionals who are paid for skilled work and who provide sufficient income to meet the demands of a quality and sustainable lifestyle. While within the framework of the social hierarchy, this status gives this class the feeling of being socially protected, although it may not coincide with the income level of the middle class, but it makes the social actor interested in guaranteeing the stability of society and especially to protect the institution of law.

Albanian society entered in 1990 without a middle class, from an extreme society without classes and with an almost non-existent heritage in this respect. Even before 1945, Albanian society was terribly backward, underdeveloped; a feudal society with some elements of primitive capitalism without any weight and with a small civic population in number. Intelligence was extremely limited in number. In these conditions, the Albanian society first embraced and then suffered the stupid communist idea of ??a classless society more than anywhere else in the East. So we have entered the era of capitalist development without any legacy from our contemporary history. Albanian society continues to be in an identity crisis! ... despite being pushed towards Europe. Despite the long period of transition, here it continues to experiment without any clearly defined axis of development. No government to date has included or explicitly stated that it intends to design middle-class building policies as the basis of social stability or as a key element of civil society. On the contrary, although there is talk of building democratic institutions and consolidating civil society, in fact to date it has acted with opposite effects. What little has been done has been done in the presence and under pressure of foreigners. Civil society is still in "diapers" or camouflaged in a camouflaged state institution which in Albania is afraid of it! Yes, there is fear because the state and the power here are inseparable and the reminiscences of authoritarianism do not disappear easily. That is why today it is represented by so-called non-governmental organizations set up by the state itself, in order not to oppose it. A non-democratic state, not to mention a "camouflaged authoritarian", can not stand criticism. It is precisely this mentality of the previous regime that holds Albanian society hostage to remain trapped in the Marxist-type class division; poor / rich lacking the important middle class - neither poor nor rich, ie the middle class. The middle class by nature and origin in a society becoming democratic, mainly in developing countries like Albania, plays a unifying role, helps society find a new identity, promotes social solidarity and creates a strong sense of community. can not stand criticism.

So, finally, in this social meat cooked by the rural political caste which has ruled this country for three decades with ex-communist mentality, the middle class remains only a social myth. Although it is a positive myth, as long as the fate of the people is in the hands of an unprincipled political caste produced by a democratically underdeveloped people, the middle class of Albanian society will remain a desire in the minds of idealists.
