Alibeaj: The experience on May 14 passed the test, electronic voting and counting provides security, parties should not turn into organizations

The General Secretary of the Democratic Party, Enkelejd Alibeaj, said yesterday that electronic voting and counting should be extended throughout Albania, as according to him, it is a tool that provides security. Alibeaj made his comments during the presentation of the Electoral Reform proposed by DP, where he said that electronic voting and counting in previous experiences has been successful, including on May 14. He also added that this does not allow political parties to turn into organisms that produce an army of commissars. "Previous experiences and those in the May 14 elections passed the test. Today, I believe that electronic voting and counting is a good tool that provides security, but also eliminates the politicization of guarantees of vote preservation. The electoral process must come out of the great trap justified once, but today with technology get the right reliability. It cannot happen that political parties turn into organisms that produce an endless army of commissioners, taking away from the public interest what is the guarantee of the public vote. As long as Albanians trust their money to technology, then they will also trust their vote to technology", he declared. Alibeaj further emphasized that a new law has been prepared for political parties. "They will vote as a diaspora, i.e. as immigrants, not only Albanians who once fled and now have papers, but also those who have not been able to formalize their stay abroad will have to vote. This has been the position of the CEC and strongly opposed by us. There was an attempt by the CEC to go with the idea of ??voting in embassies or by mail. The electoral process of the diaspora that is managed by the hands of this government is unreliable. Information technology, I believe, satisfies all security interests of political parties. We have prepared a new law for political parties. I believe that one of the great needs, one of the main contributors, is not only the electoral system, but also the party system. As well as the amendment of the law on the financing of political parties", underlined Alibeaj.
