Basha warns of the boycott of today's plenary session and denounces the Rama-Berisha bargains for Criminal Amnesty, this is how SPAK is being openly challenged and it is intended to pardon senior officials convicted of corruption

Basha warns of the boycott of today's plenary session and denounces the

As the draft of the Criminal Amnesty is expected to be put to the vote in the plenary session today, it seems that the majority does not yet have the 84 votes to be approved by the legislators. For this reason and the debates on this issue, the chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, reacted yesterday, who declared in a media conference the vote against the amnesty by his deputies, while accusing the majority of trying to save the corrupt officials. The head of the Democratic Party referred to an amendment voted on Tuesday in the Laws Commission, where the deputy of Berisha Bledion Nallbati also voted, which made the beneficiaries of the reduction of the sentence even for the prisoners who have been sentenced for light criminal offenses with a decision of the form cut by GJKKO. For the pro-amnesty vote, Basha requested the removal from the beneficiaries of those convicted by the Special Court and the acceptance of DP's proposals for a full pardon of the violent protesters of 2018-2020. "The Democratic Party will not participate in tomorrow's parliamentary session and it is undoubtedly our expectation that none of us become a crutch of this corrupt and criminal act that aims to release corrupt officials, investigated, under investigation, accused or convicted by the court against corruption and organized crime. If there is a withdrawal from this unacceptable and scandalous attitude and if our proposals for the unconditional amnesty of all protesters will be accepted, of course the Democratic Party, in the best public interest and in full transparency, will review its decision. declared Basha.

Manja answers Basha

Meanwhile, the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, gave the answer to Basha after the government meeting, leaving the way open for consensus. In a statement to the media, he said that he expects reflection. "I want to be clear from the beginning, there is amnesty from punishment and not amnesty from criminal prosecution. We followed the tradition followed earlier. One of the proposals was that in the category of convicts who do not benefit from the amnesty but a reduced sentence, there are also those convicted by the Special Court. This does not mean that we are refractory. I expect reflection", said Manja. Manja, who argued the acceptance of the amendment with the equality of citizens before the law, invited all deputies to vote in favor. "The same convicted for the same offense by the court of general jurisdiction, and the same does not benefit from the reduction of the sentence if he was convicted by the Special Court. I would be sorry if the vote of the deputies of Albania was against", declared Manja.

DP reacts after the statement of the Minister of Justice

On the other hand, the secretary for Legal Affairs in the Democratic Party, Indrit Sefa, has responded to the Minister of Justice, Ulsi Manja, regarding the amendment of the draft of the Criminal Amnesty, which provides that those convicted with a final decision will also benefit from GJKKO. Sefa emphasized that Manja came out without blushing and as a man to justify the decision that aims to amnesty their corrupt. He added that the DP will never become part of this dirty bargain and demands the withdrawal of these changes.

What happened?

We remind you that the amendment approved a few days ago in the commission, which also received the agreement of the government, provides that even the persons convicted by the GJKKO can benefit from a reduced sentence from 1 to 1.5 years in prison, repealing the letter c of article 5, point 2, that excluded them from the amnesty benefit criteria. Initially, Rithemelimi MP Bledion Nallbati was mentioned as the author of the amendment, but he denied it and said that it was proposed by the socialist Plarent Ndreca, while a little later Rithemelimi also announced that they will not vote for the Criminal Amnesty in the Assembly either. The Criminal Amnesty was presented to the Assembly at the beginning of last December, while the lack of 84 votes has postponed it for more than 2 months.
