Basha shoots Berisha: the alliance with the worst does not 'breed' anything good, the moment we understand that the union does not come as something mechanical but must come around values

Lulzim Basha from Elbasan said that the DP union turned into a flag for personal interests, thus targeting Sali Berisha, he described the alliance and the union as an evil that does not produce anything good. The newspaper is reflecting a part of Basha's speech on this matter: "I took some time to reflect and think; to look beyond what happened in DP, what is not working and what is my responsibility. The illusion that the best way to come back after the PD went into opposition in 2013 was to preserve the compactness of the numbers at all costs. This turned into a "disease" for me and my colleagues, that for the sake of the perceived value of an individual, we closed our eyes to the corruption of that individual. This means that instead of being cleansed of the people who with their corruption caused us tremendous image and credibility costs, electoral costs. We kept them there and continued to have them in leadership positions, based on electoral and not moral calculations. This has hurt us badly. Today we are facing the same dilemma. Today you hear calls for unity. The Democrats did not secede because they wanted to secede. We split under a false flag, false causes, for personal interests. The separation is not principled. Now that it was understood that the worst alliance does not "breed" anything good, now is the moment to understand that the union does not come as something mechanical, but must come around values. I believe that PD is the only hope for change in this country. We cannot make this principle dirty by trying to increase the electoral influence with all kinds of alliances. The alliance we should have is the alliance against corruption. Alliance with our Western partners. Around this alliance, everyone should feel welcome with anyone who shares these values.
