SPAK is armored, the Guard of the Republic takes custody of the building of the Prosecutor's Office and the Special Court, until today it was guarded by the police

Starting from yesterday, the perimeter of the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime (GJKKO) and the Special Prosecutor's Office (SPAK) will be guarded by the Republic Guard. Until yesterday, these institutions were guarded by the State Police. SPAK and GJKKO buildings are considered objects of particular importance. The decision taken on July 27 of last year, officially began its implementation this Wednesday, February 1. According to the decision, the employees of the state police will be replaced by employees of the Guard of the Republic. The Guard maintains the other two vetting institutions created after the reform in justice, the Independent Qualification Commission and the Special Appeals College. What is SPAK? The Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime is used to refer to the Special Prosecutor's Office against Corruption and Organized Crime as well as the Independent Investigative Unit otherwise known as the National Bureau of Investigation. This structure, composed of the aforementioned bodies, will only pursue and investigate issues of corruption and organized crime. Meanwhile, the Special Court against corruption and organized crime is responsible for judging criminal offenses against corruption and organized crime and criminal charges against a number of high-ranking officials such as: the President, the Speaker of the Assembly, the Prime Minister, members of the Council of Ministers, judges of The Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, the Prosecutor General, deputies, etc.
