The Democratic Party led by Lulzim Basha celebrates the 33rd anniversary of its foundation at the Palace of Congresses.
Lulzim Basha started the speech by saying that today they have gathered to remember a day marked not only for party members or democrats, but for all Albanians.
He adds that no one will be able to make this historical event dirty.
We have gathered together today to remember a marked day not only for us, the democrats, but for all Albanian citizens.
33 years ago, on December 11, 1990, 343 signatories submitted to the Ministry of Justice of that time the petition to register the establishment of the Democratic Party of Albania. The first party that marked the arrival of Albanian democracy and pluralism, which led to the overthrow of the 45-year communist regime in Albania.
Those 343 first signatories of the establishment of the Democratic Party, lecturers, intellectual students and ordinary citizens, did not represent only their courage, they did not represent only their prudence and intelligence; they represented the aspiration of an entire society, the aspiration of Albanian youth for freedom and democracy.
Precisely for this reason, the Democratic Party of Albania, December 11 as the day of its foundation, is one of the most beautiful and significant events in the history of our people.
No one, never, will be able to spoil the historic event of the establishment of the Democratic Party of Albania.
No one and never will be able to erase the sacrifice of its founders from Tirana to the farthest end of Albania.
No one, and never, will be able to appropriate her story.
Because the Democratic Party of Albania is the party of the free Albanian society, it is the party of the students of December, it is the party of the great dream of an entire nation for freedom.
December 11, 1990 will always be the date of Albanian freedom, the date of its democracy.
So today, on December 11, is the day to honor and thank all the founders of the Democratic Party, all the free Albanians who wanted the development of Albania and its prosperity. The Democratic Party was the first political movement that had in its vision the political, civil and economic freedoms of Albanians, it was the first light of hope for an open Albania, for a democratic Albania.
