The Special Court was withdrawn today to make a decision regarding the request of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, to be allowed to take the oath.
From the iron cage of the court, Beleri has once again thrown accusations at Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, according to him, is keeping him in prison for his own political interests.
"Today, someone who is not mandated by the voters is running the municipality of Himara. Meanwhile, he is awarding tenders and abusing the municipality of Himara by allowing constructions without permission. I'm being held in prison because that's what the prime minister cares about. The continuous insistence of SPAK to oppose the request despite the fact that it is not a legal obligation shows the political pressure it has. The GJKKO and prisons are clearly under pressure. I was mandated to run the municipality, I was elected by the voters of Himara, who trusted me in the selection process as a candidate, but also as a coalition, we win together, but also as the winner of the elections," said Beleri.
