"This kind of own goal would make it stay alone" / Athens' threats to Albania, Bido reveals why Greece is unable to veto the EU
Written by SOT.COM.AL 10 Dhjetor 2023
Ardit Bido, director of the Archives of Albania, has expressed that he does not believe that Greece will impose a veto on our country, as it would be an own goal for him.
Invited to a television interview, Bido emphasized that if Greece were to impose a veto on Albania, it would remain alone, which it does not do.
"On the first day that it came out as news, I don't believe it and it seems very surprising to me that Greece would veto at this moment. This is because Greece is a serious country that has supported Albania in the linearity of the integration process, and above all it does not score own goals. In this particular case, we are dealing with the case of an individual who is in front of justice and for which an administrative act is required, such as a permit that has been issued in the sense that it is in the judicial process.
The non-granting of permission is currently in the judicial process that will be decided by the Court of Serious Crimes. Every moment of the demands of the Greek side has been disclosed and turned into a judicial process where Greece will not intervene. I would be very surprised if there was a veto from the Greek side, because this kind of own goal would leave Greece alone. Greece does not do this in foreign policy", said Bido.
