After several distant clashes, mainly on the eve of the 2021 general parliamentary elections, when Ilir Meta was president but was quite active in the electoral campaign against the government, the head of the Freedom Party has already made 'peace' with American diplomat Yuri Kim. Yesterday, Ilir Meta received the American ambassador in Tirana, Yuri Kim, at the headquarters of the Freedom Party, as he also shared details about the meeting between them. According to Meta, the cooperation of the Freedom Party with the USA was discussed in a constructive manner. Meta underlines that cooperation will be in the interest of strengthening and intensifying the strategic partnership between Albania and the USA, fulfilling our obligations as a NATO member country, as well as priority reforms to accelerate the European integration of Albania and the Western Balkans in the EU. "Welcome to the headquarters of the Freedom Party the Ambassador of the United States of America, Mrs. Yuri Kim. It was a pleasure to openly and constructively discuss the cooperation of the Freedom Party with the USA, in the interest of strengthening and intensifying the strategic partnership between Albania and the USA, fulfilling our obligations as a NATO member country, as well as priority acceleration reforms of the European integration of Albania and the Western Balkans in the EU", writes Meta, who with this meeting shows that he is distancing himself from the "non grata" Sali Berisha who is at war with the Americans.

Kim: Commitment to the fight against corruption

Ndërkohë, ambasadorja e Shteteve të bashkuara të Amerikës Yuri Kim ka nënvizuar se partitë politike shqiptare duhet të bëjnë dialog për integrimin dhe demokracinë në vend. Ndërkohë,  kujtojmë se gjatë fushatës elektorale të vitit 2021, Ilir Meta, megjithëse në rolin e presidentit të vendit, me një gjuhë të paprecedentë sulmoi asokohe ambasadoren amerikane Yuri Kim, ku i kërkonte që mos të ndërhynte në zgjedhjet parlamentare. Vetë diplomatja amerikane dënoi gjuhën e ashpër të Ilir Metës, gjatë fushatës elektorale, ku ish-kreu i shteti u bënte thirrje qytetarëve, që të mprehin sfurqet e sëpatat që të mbrojnë votën. Yuri Kim dënoi ashpër fjalorin e Metës, duke e shigjetuar drejtpërdrejt kreun e shtetit dhe duke i thënë se thirrjet e tij për mprehje të sfurqeve dhe sëpatave janë të papranueshme dhe të dënueshme dhe se për këtë duhet të mbajë përgjegjësi.
