From the suspension of "Air Albania", to the withdrawal of doctors from the Fier hospital and the hostage-taking of the Namazgja Mosque, how did Edi Rama's attitude towards the Gülenists change after Erdogan began withdrawing investments in Albania

Written by Rigels Seliman 24 Shtator 2022

Every time a political leader of Turkey comes on an official visit to Tirana, Albania is openly asked to surrender or declare war on the Gülenists, otherwise known by the Turkish government as members of the FETO organization (Fethullaist Terrorist Organization). The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during his official visit to Albania in January of this year, requested that Albania take concrete steps against these people who are part of the organization, which he calls terrorists. Erdogan emphasized that he had discussed this issue in meetings with the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Ramë, adding that "the fact that (FETO) finds scope in Albania's friend and brother country deeply hurts our people". But until a few days ago, none of Erdogan's ultimatums were fulfilled by the official Tirana,
Namazgja Mosque "hostage" of Erdogan's ultimatums
The first blow that Erdo?an gave to Rama was holding hostage the Mosque of Namazgya, which according to the promise that the Turkish President gave in several visits that he made over the years in the decision, would be inaugurated in May of this year. But this did not happen, because Rama did not submit to the Sultan's order to take them on a "silver platter". And as if this domino effect of Erdogan's anger was not enough, it was followed by the suspension of "Air Albania" and the withdrawal of doctors from the Fier hospital. This hospital was built in the span of three months with funds from Turkey and it was a clear message that the American Hospital, whose director is Klodian Allajbeun, had to be closed. The latter is accused by Erdogan, his loyalists and the Turkish media as Gülen's "imam" in Albania. So the construction of the Turkish hospital in Fieri, it was a clear message that its existence is there, to replace the American Hospital that Erdogan wants to close. However, all these demands of Erdogan were not fulfilled by Edi Rama, which forced Erdogan to change the suspension and withdrawal of the Turkish president from Albania. But this anger of the Turkish Sultan seems to have been quickly sensed by Edi Rama, who changed his stance on the Gülenists taking refuge in Albania, only after Erdogan began withdrawing investments in Albania. In the span of 1 month, Rama and the Albanian authorities have launched a strong offensive against the Gülenists in Albania, closing several educational institutions and arresting several enemies of the Turkish president. So, today as we speak, we see that Rama has changed course 180 degrees, obeying and submitting to the president of Turkey, Recep Erdogan.
