The President decrees the law on salary increases for senior officials and the administration! This is how much the salary is for the head of state, the prime minister, ministers and deputies

The President of Albania, Bajram Begaj, has decreed the law on salary increases for himself, Prime Minister Edi Rama, ministers, MPs and public administration employees. It also decreed the law on the status of prosecutors and judges in the Republic of Albania. Begaj had given his consent before they were approved in the Parliament of Albania during Thursday's session. The head of state benefited from a significant salary increase, from 257,000 ALL to 425,000 new ALL. After him comes the Prime Minister and the Speaker of the Assembly, whose salary went from 228,000 ALL to around 393,000 ALL. Significant beneficiaries are also the ministers, whose salaries were doubled by the new law, from 174,760 ALL to 318,000 ALL.

The approved package also brings increases for the leaders of some institutions, such as the civil service commission, the Competition Authority, AKEP, the Water Regulatory Authority, AMA, the Commissioner for the Right to Information, the one for protection against discrimination, etc., where the level of wages is set at 255 thousand new ALL, from 115 thousand ALL it has been until now. The growth continues throughout the pyramid of the state administration, according to the coefficients established in the law, while representatives of the majority have emphasized that the law provides a solution to the historical problem of teachers' and doctors' salaries.

The reform

Ndërkohë gazeta ka mësuar se 39 miliardë lekë premton qeveria të harxhojë për rritjen e pagave të gjyqtarëve, prokurorëve, administratës dhe punonjësve publikë. Rritja do të përfshijë mjekët e përgjithshëm që do të ketë një pagë 131 672 lekësh. Gjithashtu infermierët do të kenë një pagë në nivelin 87 118 me 57 % rritje. Për punonjësit e sigurisë apo nivelin inspektor, paga bazë pritet të shkojë në 97 500 lekë një rritje me 63% nga paga aktuale. Në të njëjtin nivel pritet të jetë rritja edhe për zjarrfikësit. Sa i përket administratës publike rritja do të përcaktohet me vendim të Këshillit të Ministrave për çdo kategori, por nivelet e rritjes së tyre janë në shifrat e 10 000 – 35 000 lekëve. Magjistratët bazë, pas vendimit edhe të gjykatës kushtetuese nuk do të kenë pagë më të ulët se 153 000 lekë.

The experts speak

But how will the government find the funds to meet the new wage level. Experts think there are several sources. "It depends on where you put the priority. You can leave other services without priority. I would think that if this increase had been made gradually year after year, it would have been more affordable and we would have had effects on the productivity of the employees," said Edison Zaçaj, economic expert. In 2022, the government managed to collect 580 million euros more, while in the first four months of this year it managed to collect 170 million euros more in the budget, but the growth figures have slowed down, while the forecasts are for a decrease in growth economic.
