The citizens of Kukës voted yesterday for the election of the new mayor, after the video scandal involving the former mayor, Safet Gjici.
After the victory of the candidate of the Socialist Party, the citizens of Kukës have expressed that Halilaj deserved the victory, while adding that the video scandal of Safet Gjic a few months ago in the office of the Municipality, where he appeared having sex, did not affect the votes of theirs. According to them, their vote went only to the candidate without taking into account what happened before.
"We expected the result to some extent. As it seems they have worked hard. The candidate has a very good opinion. With the previous developments, we thought that the result would change, but apparently it did not. Very quiet very good elections, the best has won. The candidate has influenced, very good guy. The candidate was the main factor in the election. What happened is irrelevant" - they said.
Albert Halilaj, the candidate of the Socialist Party, announced his victory over the candidate of the "Bashke Fitomje" coalition, Emri Vata. Although there are still the last two boxes not counted, the large difference of votes between the candidates means that these two boxes do not have an impact on the result.
