Albanianology is dissolved, Edi Rama signs the final decision

The government decided today with a decision of the Council of Ministers to dissolve the Academy of Albanological Studies. 

The government calls this a closure in order to reorganize its main units under the dictates of the Academy of Sciences headed by Skënder Gjinushi. 

Today, the Minister of Education Evis Kushi said that the Academy of Albanian Studies not only does not justify the salaries, but is in deep violation. 

But the Academy of Albanological Studies stated that it does not recognize the decision.

COMPLETE DECISION

The closure of the activity of the Academy of Albanian Studies and the transfer of all its rights and obligations to the Academy of Sciences of Albania.
The main existing units, the Research Center of the Albanian Encyclopedia and Publications and the academic staff of these units, currently at the Academy of Albanian Studies, are reorganized as research-study units at the Academy of Sciences of Albania, by December 31, 2023.
All assets, movable and immovable assets under the administration of the Academy of Albanian Studies are transferred to the administration of the Academy of Sciences of Albania, which has the obligation to preserve and maintain the assets under administration and cannot change or alienate their destination, in accordance with the legislation in force on cultural heritage.
The Academy of Albanological Studies has the following obligations:
a) To take all measures for the transfer of studies for ungraduated doctoral students in the third cycle of studies to obtain the scientific degree "Doctor" in other institutions of higher education, domestic or foreign , that offer study programs in the same or similar fields;
b) To prepare the file for each doctoral student, with the necessary documentation and make it available to the doctoral students, without additional financial obligation on their part, by August 31, 2023;
c) Forward to the Ministry of Education and Sports the files of the doctoral students who will not be withdrawn from them, by September 8, 2023;
ç) To submit the legal, administrative, financial and academic documentation that it has and on the basis of which it has developed its academic and research-scientific activity to the responsible structures, according to the legislation in force on archives;

d) To place at the disposal of the Ministry of Education and Sports any required information, until the fulfillment of all the requirements provided for in this decision.
The Academy of Albanian Studies should take measures to continue exercising its academic, research-scientific, administrative and financial activity, until the complete transfer of the constituent units to the Academy of Sciences of Albania, according to the provisions of this decision.
