What if you do not eat meat? Here is what the doctors say

Consumption of meat is often criticized by doctors while vegetarians continue to come up with extremely healthy plant-based recipes.

According to them, plant-based diet helps us lose weight, reduces the risk of heart disease, gives us more energy. Here are some of the benefits of such a diet.

You can lose extra pounds

Although the overall rate of obesity is very high, it is much lower in vegetarians. According to a study published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Diabetics, although the number of calories consumed by carnivores and vegetarians was the same, the rate of obesity was much higher among carnivores. What makes a vegetarian diet beneficial for weight loss is the fact that, it contains very little fat, and is rich in whole grains, fresh vegetables and fruits.

Reduce inflammation

Within a few hours of consumption, meat, cheese and other processed foods can cause inflammation in the body. Arteries can become paralyzed, as a response to fat. This results in persistent inflammation, which can lead to diabetes, autoimmune diseases, heart disease and cancer. Plant-based diets are anti-inflammatory, due to the fact that they are based on antioxidants and plant fiber. On the other hand, they contain fewer substances that cause inflammation, such as endotoxins and saturated fats.

It has been scientifically proven that following a plant-based diet can prevent and treat diabetes. According to some studies, there is a strong link between higher animal protein intake and the long-term risk of developing diabetes.
